Stand Up For The Story – Your Relationship With Time
You can listen to this episode here:
Rachel interviews Paul Holbrook, founder of Diary Detox, to discuss the toxic relationship we all have with time – particularly in the workplace.
Paul shares his journey from a developer interested in people, to a management expert concerned with how poorly managers spend their time and argues that most managers are too busy to perform their key roles effectively, leading to numerous workplace issues.
Paul emphasises the importance of focusing on six core managerial functions, proper time planning and having a language to discuss time management issues. He introduces the Diary Detox method – which he designed to give people at least a day back in their calendar every week.
The conversation also touches on the widespread issue of accidental managers. People who are promoted without the necessary skills or values. Paul envisions a future where managers lead with love and have time for their people – leading to greater innovation, better workplace relationships and improved organisational culture.
